Interest Rates

Interest rates. While researching this guide I noticed many sites offering remarkably low rates. On closer inspection these rates often seem to be tied to conditions which will only be applicable to a small number of people, most of whom would not match the demographic of the people I imagine will be reading this book (or the websites that were promoting them!) so there is little point in setting unfair expectations.

Also, over the last few years we have seen the Euribor jump from negative rates to over 3.8% and now start to come back down.

Variable Mortgages: Variable rates are typically set at around 0.5 above the euribor and revised every 6-12 months.

Fixed Rates: At the time of writing fixed rates were generally set at around 3.5% for 10 years, the longer the fixed term, the higher the rate with 25 year terms likely to have rates of around 5%
