Our series focuses on authentic experiences—highlighting both the joys and challenges of retiring to Spain. If you've encountered property-related issues but found ways to overcome them, we believe your journey can provide valuable insights for future ex-pats.
We feel that almost all structured information available to foreign buyers of Spanish Property is presented from the perspective of selling agents. Our mission with this series is to present a more balanced view of purchasing property and moving to Spain. We will explore the positives and negatives, backed with input from the series host, James, who has over 20 years experience of the Spanish Property industry.
We’re excited to share real-life stories of ex-pats who have made the move to Spain and, along the way, faced the unique challenges of buying and living in a property abroad. By sharing your experiences, you can help others avoid common pitfalls and make the most of their new lives in Spain.
What we’ll need from you:
We will meet with you over a couple of days with a very small and non-intrusive team (Presenter and Camera Operator).
We’ll film you introducing your home and discussing why you moved to Spain. This will also include an aerial drone shot of your home and neighborhood to showcase the surrounding area (assuming there are no airspace restrictions).
We’ll film you discussing any challenges you faced during the property purchase process or life in Spain since. If possible, we’ll also capture supporting visuals (e.g., the part of your home that had a defect or issues with paperwork). We will then discuss how you resolved the issues you faced. Did you need legal advice? Did you find a creative solution to a property problem? We’ll highlight your resilience and resourcefulness.
We’ll film you explaining how you overcame these obstacles, what steps you took, and what advice you’d give others going through similar challenges.
We’ll spend time filming you as you go about your typical day, whether it's visiting local markets, spending time with friends, or simply enjoying the Spanish lifestyle. This is a chance to showcase the beauty and benefits of living in Spain, despite the initial challenges.
We’ll film a brief interview where you reflect on your time in Spain, focusing on the lessons you’ve learned and the wisdom you want to share with future ex-pats.
